On August 31, 2017, bennockburn, Illinois, the IPC, international electronics industry association, released the July 2017 PCB industry research and statistics report in North America. The report showed that orders rose in July from a year earlier, and sales were down from the same period a year earlier, with orders rising to 1.09.
Total shipments of PCB in North America in July 2017, down 6.2 percent from the same period in 2016.Shipments are still down from 4.4 percent a year earlier.Shipments fell 22.3 percent in July compared with the previous month.
In July 2017, the number of PCB orders in North America increased by 8.0% compared with the same period last year.Orders for the year to date are up 2.5 percent from a year earlier.Orders fell 19.8 percent compared with last month.
Sharon IPC market research director ms Starr said: “in North America in July sales level is still lower than the same period last year, orders rose, the superposition of two factors book-to-bill ratio higher, more than last month. The shipment of orders is the sixth consecutive month of the boom, indicating that sales are expected to recover by the end of the year.Sales volume is down a lot, which is not to panic, it is the result of the quarterly sex factor.
Note: the June growth rate data has been adjusted due to changes in the sample companies participating in the research project.
The report details
The north American PCB industry research report in July will be published next week.Report details a rigid PCB and flexible PCB sales, orders and their respective book-to-bill ratio, different size of the company growth, and military industry, the condition of the growth of the medical market, demand model and other important real-time data.
Data interpretation
The order shipment ratio is the ratio of the order quantity of the sample companies participating in the IPC research project over the past three months divided by the sales volume of the same period. The ratio is above 1.00, indicating that current demand exceeds supply, indicating that sales will grow in the next three to six months. The ratio is less than 1.00, which indicates that the current supply quantity is greater than the demand.
Year-on-year growth rate and year-to-date growth rate are instructive to the development trend of the industry. The month-on-month data need to be treated with caution because of its cyclical and short-term impact.Compared with the shipment data, the order data change is larger, and the change of the order shipment ratio between the month and month is less important, unless there is a marked change trend for more than three consecutive months. It is also important to explore the reasons for the changes in orders and shipments to understand the changes in orders.
IPC’s monthly PCB industry statistics come from the local data that are regularly provided by the sample companies of the manufacturers of rigid and flexible PCB manufacturers in the United States and Canada.IPC will release monthly PCB order delivery ratio and PCB statistical project report.Monthly statistical reports will be released in the last week of next month.
